Benbo: If You Feel Emotional
Second solo release by Benbo, leading up to his full-length début in 2016. A sparkling summery pop tune with a dirty great synth muscling its way in at the break.
Gordon Raphael (producer, The Strokes) is on the mix and Mandy Parnell (Björk/Jungle/Aphex Twin) mastered it. It was co-written with novelist A.K. Benedict, who also sings backing vocals.
The maverick singer/songwriter/producer has had remixes and productions released by BBE, Conya and Dizzy Tiger. His last production, 'Feels Like' by Pablo, was Eddy Temple Morris's 'Softest Record Of The Week' in May – and his first, 'Just Keep Coming' by The Black Tulips, was memorably described by XFM's Jon Kennedy as 'the loudest record I've heard all week.'
Signed to Cooking Vinyl's songwriting division since 2009, the notorious perfectionist has only just begun to release his solo work to the world – with EP1 drawing comparisons to Tom Vek, Ween (Musical Moses) and XTC (Disastronaut). Rare live shows showcase a self-deprecating wit and often feature guest appearances from his long list of collaborators.
Despite the paucity of solo releases he maintains a ferocious work rate and is currently producing for Mother Cyborg in Detroit, Swoonz in Oakland and EJ von Lyrik in Cape Town. His remixes for The Fatty Acids, Pat Fulgoni and Alone In Splendour should emerge by early 2016.
